Job Title:

Dev Ops Assistant

Main Purpose:

Maintain the Dev Ops tools and principles


Responsible to:                        Head of Service Delivery

Responsible for:                       IT Operations team within Flight Data Services, UK.

The role will ensure the continual deployment and availability of platforms that support IT Ops, Research and Development and, most importantly the end users of the services we provide.  The role will also be responsible for monitoring the infrastructure, preparing upgrades and patches to planning and implementing the full migration and expansion of customer facing production systems.

Main Tasks of Job

  • To work with the different teams to bring in a DevOps culture
  • Drive infrastructure automation of everything manual using scripting tools including Ansible, Python, Bash and Git.
  • Build, deploy, manage and maintain systems on private cloud services including using Kubernetes.
  • Drive application deployment from broad systems to micro-service provisioning.
  • Maintain quality documentation of infrastructure and escalation procedures.
  • Build, maintain and deploy “infrastructure as Code” using tools such as Ansible, Docker and Jenkins.
  • Established Linux administrator ensuring high performance and availability of infrastructure.
  • Manage system failures and support the Company Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Manage CI/CD environment

Customer Service:

  • To be a technical subject matter expert within that team at FDS.
  • To provide accurate reporting on team activities against business plan.
  • Lead on internal and external customer requirements when required.
  • Work cross functionally with other teams to achieve business needs.


  • Degree level in Computer Science related fields
  • Dev Ops experience
  • Ability to manage customer expectations and project deadlines
  • Cloud experience in AWS or Azure desirable
  • Strong Linux knowledge and scripting languages (BASH, Python etc).

Development background with an ability to understand a complex application stack and to adhere to good agile development practices.
